Aastha Chauhan
Aastha Chauhan was born in Ajmer, Rajasthan in 1981. She studied sculpture at the Panjab and later Delhi University. Chauhan’s art practise can be defined as public, socially engaged and site specific. She has worked in the neighbourhood of Khirkee in South Delhi since 2005, initially with KHOJ International Artists Association as their community arts coordinator until 2011, and independently since then. She is also interested in micro broadcasting and since 2008 has worked closely with 90.4MHz Henvalvani community radio station in Chamba, Uttarakhand. Chauhan’s projects are collaborative, multidisciplinary in nature and mostly self-funded/self-sustained long-term engagements. With a focus on two geographies/locations (Chamba and Khirkee), she is able to weave meaningful projects with a strong subtext of cultural activism. She currently lives in Delhi.
