Dyan Tai
Self described as the Asian empress of the gay streets of Sydney, Dyan Tai is set to make a statement through his music and edgy performances which are a yin and yang blend of electronic music influenced by Asian instrumentation; sonically paired with his expansive androgynous lithe vocals.
Dyan’s music has received high rotation on local and community radio (Triple J’s House Party, FBI Radio, 4ZZZ, 2RRR). He has also been featured on ABC Queer, SBS Australia, “Art Talks" on ABC TV Plus and featured in the "Chinese Australian" episode of award winning ABC show "You Can't Ask That" (Season 6).
Dyan is also the founder of Worship Queer Collective which was recognised and cited as part of the global movement to unite Queer Asians around the world. The collective pioneered the local “Queer Asian Excellence” movement through rave reviewed sold-out events such as Dynasty Social, Tiger Queen: Queer Lunar New Year Festival and the highly successful Don’t Cha Wish You Yum Cha.
His activism and commitment to the community has seen him nominated for Inner West Council’s 2022 Citizen of The Year Award for his outstanding contribution to music, arts and culture. Other awards also include the prestigious 2021/2022 Generations Music Fellowship (by CreateNSW, Powerhouse Museum, Astral People) and Performance Space’s Queer Development Program.
