Catch 'Archetypes: 30 Years of 4A' before it closes, bringing together works and voices that trace the shifting ideas, communities and artistic practices that have shaped 4A since its beginnings. Guest curated by Amelia Winata, the exhibition brings together Maria Cruz, Dacchi Dang, Emil Goh (1966–2009), Jumaadi, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook, Koji Ryui, Samraing Chea, Spencer Lai, Yasmin Smith, Amy Stuart & MSAC Collective, Sarah Ujmaia and Yusi Zang.

Bettu Russ: Tearing Field

Betty Russ’s ‘Tearing Field’ is an immersive installation exploring mutation, adaptation and survival. Water, air, plants and sculptural forms circulate through a shifting environment where the natural, technological and constructed begin to dissolve.

Peace of a Park

Schmick Contemporary is transformed through 'Peace of a Park' into a rundown city park, exploring connections between people, poetry, nature and the built environments around us. This Friday from 6-8pm the space will be further brought to life through busking performed by Oscar Sulich from Boba Lego/Eternal Dust and Lilla Obradović from Jet City Sports Club.

Tactile Illusions
Eli van Engelen, Madi Feist, Yoko Georgiou, Midori Goto, Marina Inoue and Benedict dos Remedios

Celebrate the opening of this group exhibition. Balancing playful, bold aesthetics with a sardonic undertone, the show features Benedict dos Remedios with vibrant depictions of exotic flora, Midori Goto with underwater-inspired ceramics akin to coral reefs, and Yoko Georgiou with over-bright, tactile hand-tufted textiles viewed through a Japanese folk lens. Providing the show's darker counterpoint, Marina Inoue contributes adult noir vignettes in oil, while Eli van Engelen uses liquid graphite on canvas to create surreal, awkwardly tense compositions. Madi Feist unifies the exhibition with suspended assemblage forms that serve as the overarching scaffolding, skeleton, and genetic DNA, binding the tactile illusion together.
