Nadia Refaei is a multidisciplinary artist based in nipaluna (Hobart). Her arts and curatorial practice draw on both personal and broader histories to explore ideas around cultural dislocation. She spent most of her childhood in Saudi Arabia and this has informed her interest in the relationships between migration, memory and mythology. Nadia uses photography, installation and video to examine these issues through the lens of Arab-Australian identity. Her practice combines both process-based and research-driven methods. Decentralising eurocentrism and interrogating imperialist mythologies underpins her practice.
