4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art

This early-career survey, the first for 4A since 2015, brings together artists who imbue their creative methods with fresh perspectives and new ideas resonating with contemporary societal discourse. With a national focus, New Energy celebrates the depth of our artistic community, presenting the work of nine emerging artists. Showcasing installation, ceramics, video photography and more, New Energy encourages evolving practices through cross-cultural and interdisciplinary dialogues, with musings on intimate imagined realities alongside public displays of affection. These artists navigate traditional aesthetics by twisting the symbols and cultural touchstones through a contemporary globalised lens.

4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art would like to acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we live, work and create. We recognise the enduring connections between First Nations people and the land, waters, culture and communities that have existed for over 60,000 years. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
